The college was founded way back in 1964 in Shyampur village of Howrah district some 75 kms away from Kolkata in the close vicinity of Gadiara – a well known tourist spot of southern West Bengal. The genesis of the college was modest, as it offered general stream courses in humanities; science and commerce, but consolidating on the foundation of vision for growth, the curriculum bouquet soon ......
The vision of the college is the introduction of modern subjects with necessary infrastructure facilities with a view of updating education as per requirements of the employment houses and higher studies as well. The vision is also to provide the students the quality education with all round humane values and necessary skills. We are looking forward to our institution growing into a premier institute of learning in the days to come.
The goal of the college is to disseminate higher education to the students from all sections and areas emphasizing the development of ability and personality building in order to equip the students of our college adequately so as to face the challenge of the new future with courage and conviction.

I am very glad to announce that our students achieve brilliant results year after year in the examinations of University of Calcutta. Till 2018, 32 students of our college were placed among the top Ten in the Rank list of different subjects as prepared by the University of Calcutta based on the results of the affiliated colleges.
