Among the most advanced and well-developed fields of the fundamental sciences, Mathematics is one of the oldest academic courses. The natural sciences, engineering, medicine, and social sciences all rely heavily on mathematics, which is the study of amount, structure, space, and change. In Mathematics, we aim to establish truth by rigorous deduction, which in turn helps in the development of analytical, reasoning, and logical skills.
Since its inception in 1964, the Department of Mathematics has been working hard to establish itself as a center of excellence in the field and has been actively engaged in teaching. The department currently has four well-qualified, experienced faculty members, two of whom are Doctorates. The faculty members have published around 50 papers in various National and International Journals.
The goal of the mathematics department is to teach mathematics with excellence. The teachers train the students with a solid foundation in mathematics theory and its applications. Using outcome-based teaching and learning strategies, we aim to instill analytical and logical abilities in our undergraduate students. Furthermore, we bring innovative teaching methods and valuable learning opportunities into the classroom by incorporating programming languages like C, computer algebra systems like Maxima and SageMath, mathematical modeling using software, introduction of certificate course on documentation preparation using LaTeX, etc.
